The Cosmetics and Detergents Kenya Limited has started offering daily industrial training on Candle Making Technology with effect from 1st September 2016.
Announcing the new development, Edna Gacheri, the new director (marketing), cited numerous enquiries from Kenyans who expressed desperation in getting the right, affordable and competent training with guarantee on KEBS certification as the motivating thing to offer daily Training.
To that effect, a new industrial portable mini candle making machine for demonstration was availed to the company’s training centre in Millennium suits by Boghol Steel industries. “People interested in learning candle making technology are requested to book classes a day before through telephone number 0723424240. Individual Training takes place at Nyota Building, suit 105, First Floor. Nyota Building is near Tea room at the junction of Accra and Dubois Road.

The training focuses on scientific theory in candle formulation, followed by thorough practicals. Raw materials sourcing, packaging and KEBS Standardization procedures are part of the training package. It takes less than a day to learn the art of candle making.
Douglas, the chief technician says that candle business in Kenya does not disappoint. He teaches various candle formulations such as Non-drip, scented and Colored ones. The outgoing chief training officer, a Mr Silas says that the candle making business has no loss, is over 100 percent profitable- especially for entrepreneurs eying regional exports to countries like Burundi, Congo, Uganda and South Sudan-who are the largest consumers of the commodity.
